Petrignano and Bella Vista

Cantina Goccia has two vineyards - Petrignano and Bella Vista - located in the heart of the Colli del Trasimeno wine production area of Umbria. At an elevation of 300 metres to the west of the beautiful Lake Trasimeno, the vineyards are blessed with rich clay soils and cool breezes.

Umbrian Sangiovese, Pinot Nero, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Grechetto and Vermentino are all grown on spurred cordon-trained vines.

We have been investing in a program of replanting and extending our vineyard, choosing cultivars and wine styles which are characteristic of our strong Umbrian roots. There are 5000 vines per hectare and we have established a programme of careful management of the soil through organic feed and sensitive use of tillage. We are located on the western shores of Lake Trasimeno in the DOC Colli del Trasimeno. This is an area where there are remnants of ancient volcanoes and the vines bear down through clay and limestone into the hard, mineral rich volcanic tufa.

The Environment

At Cantina Goccia Vineyards we have implemented a wide range of innovative programs to reduce the vineyards environmental footprint and make a positive return to Umbria.

Food miles and carbon footprint are more important than ever and transparency of production is high on consumer's agenda. The quality and characteristics of our wine are the result of a number of carefully considered decisions from tilling the land, green fertiliser planting over winter, planting of new vines, to investing in solar energy right through to the bottling of our final product. Our philosophy as producers has always been to focus on tradition, quality and innovation in all our decisions.

We are committed to using the Frugal "Paper" bottle for 80% of our wines moving forward, providing a truly sustainable, low-carbon packaging solution as well as reduced weight for transportation.

We are currently in Organic Transition, with organic certification outlooked for late 2023.
