The First Bend is the Hardest

We all know the lyrics to Cat Stephens song The First Cut is The Deepest - actually I prefer the Rod Stewart version - however in the vineyard it is The First Bend is the Hardest.

Rachid and Valentina working hard creating the cordon spur bend to the young vines - young being 2 years old now! Twist to hard and it will snap. Two man job this with 4 ties on the vertical and 4 ties on the horizontal spur.

Hats off to Rachid and Valentina, they work 8 hours a day training these new vines!
